About the Space

Nestled into an unassuming Smith Street store front, Barely Disfigured opens into an intimate, surrealist-inspired corridor. Featuring a long, swerving marble bar, a red-lit bedroom (yes, with a bed) and a luxurious Tulum-esque outdoor space (complete with an outdoor drinks and raw bar), Barely Disfigured provides a variety of spaces for patrons to lounge and enjoy themselves.

Designed by the award-winning Delphine Mauroit of DMDesign + Architecture (Raines Law Room, Dear Irving) and inspired by the poem "Barely Disfigured" by French Surrealist Paul Eluard, the unique interior blends touches of a 1920s French bordello with surrealist notes in a distinctively Brooklyn backdrop.

Named one of the "Top 10 Best" bars on the East Coast, Barely Disfigured has hosted a variety of events, celebrations and film scenes—even making a prominent appearance in the HBO series "High Maintenance."
